Embark on this journey, embrace innovation, and be part of a dynamic organization that is shaping India's future through nuclear power.
The final selection process for the Executive Trainee position at NPCIL involves a personal interview, which will determine the candidates' suitability for the role. However, it is important to note that medical fitness is also a prerequisite for selection.
During the final selection, no weightage is given to the GATE score. The selection is solely based on the candidate's performance in the personal interview.
It is essential for candidates to prepare thoroughly for the Personal Interview, as it holds significant weight in the final selection process. By demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and suitability for the role during the interview, candidates can increase their chances of securing a position as an Executive Trainee at NPCIL.

Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) paper, the new addition to GATE 2024 exam, was much expected. Also, students already enrolled in these courses were pretty sure that this paper would be introduced in GATE 2024. And now this announcement for introducing the DA paper is blasted by the authority conducting the GATE 2024 exam. Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DA) are the fastest-growing and trending fields in the technology sector. These courses open various door-to-door opportunities for ambitious students in their careers. Also, these courses are now offered at many premium institutes in India. Starting now, the GATE exam will include one or two papers annually for these courses. The good news is that students from any engineering branch can choose the DA paper along with their core subject in GATE. Opting for this paper makes admission easier for aspiring candidates seeking higher education.
YourPedia education courses offer a holistic preparation strategy and guidance that covers the entire process, from the written exam to the interview stage, and ultimately to the final selection. The Selection Module, a unique initiative by Team YourPedia, prepares students not only for the written GATE exam but also for the final selection process based on GATE scores for various higher education courses and jobs in PSUs. So, we are delighted to announce that team YourPedia will be launching master class live sessions soon for this paper coming up in GATE 2024 exam. Aspiring students can join these classes to push their potential to the moon and stars.
Overview of the GATE 2024 exam
GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national-level exam that offers various higher education opportunities in the field of Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, and the humanities. The GATE score is valid for three years for higher education and one year for the PSUs. Doors get opened for third-year students, as now they can also write the GATE exam for doing paid internships in IITs with professors. GATE comprises 30 subject papers, from which students have been given the choice to opt for two papers in combination according to their interests.
Students who qualify for the GATE exam and get admitted to master’s programs like M.Tech. are given a fellowship of Rs. 12,400 for twenty-two months. Bachelor students who have a good overall cumulative CGPA (more than 8.00) and GATE score can apply for direct doctoral programs, and if get admitted, they are given financial assistance of Rs. 37,000 for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 for the rest of the three years. Also, one can go directly for the job after graduating, as many of the prestigious PSUs (for example, BARC, IOCL) recruit candidates based on good GATE scores.
Hence, the purpose for giving GATE should be clear so that one can prepare and strategize accordingly.
Why is the DA paper introduced in GATE 2024, and what are its benefits?
Students who have completed papers in electronics, electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, and other subjects, may face difficulties when they enroll in Data Science (DS) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) courses at prestigious institutions like IITs, IISc, and NITs, after qualifying for the GATE exam. Many students lack experience with Python, Machine learning, Deep learning, and other subjects before being admitted to these courses, which can make it challenging to keep up with the curriculum. To address this issue, the GATE exam will now include a DA paper to help students gain exposure to these subjects and understand their significance before pursuing a career in data science (DS) or Artificial intelligence (AI). Students who pass the core domain paper will have an advantage during interviews and be better prepared for specialization in these fields.
The introduction of the DA paper aims to provide a foundation for aspiring students and improve their understanding of the course curriculum.DA papers can be written in combination with some papers, as only some departments offer this combination of DA papers in GATE, like computer science, mathematics, mechanical engineering, physics, statistics, electronics, electrical engineering, and civil engineering (XC). As of now,the syllabus for the DA paper comprises math, statistics, Python, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligence.
Tentative Syllabus for DA paper in GATE 2024 exam
The preparation of the DA paper begins with the fundamentals of coding. In computer science, there are two basic languages: 'R' programming and 'Python'. Python is more relevant to the DA subject and will therefore be included in the syllabus for this paper.
In Python, there are three major sub-topics. The first sub-topic covers the basics of Python, including operators, variables, Python's loop, Boolean values, modules, packages, and more. The second sub-topic is the 'OOPs' concept in DA, which stands for 'Object Oriented Programming'. This topic encompasses various headings, such as polymorphism, encapsulation, inheritance, data abstraction, and more. The last sub-topic under the heading of Python, 'Advanced Python for Data Science', includes libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Seaborn.
Another significant topic in the DA paper is 'Statistics', which covers basic concepts of probability, mean, mode, median, variance, standard deviation, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, type 1 and 2 errors, regression, ANOVA, R-square, correlation, and more. This subject is crucial to the DA paper.
The next topic is 'Exploratory Data Analysis', which includes sub-topics such as data visualization, missing value analysis, correction matrix, and outlier direction analysis.
Another topic in DA is 'Discrete Mathematics', which covers sets, relations, functions, permutations, combinatorics, and more.
'Engineering Mathematics' is another topic in the DA syllabus that includes probability, calculus, and linear algebra. Linear algebra is considered the root of Data Science and is essential from an exam perspective.
The next topic is 'Artificial Intelligence' (AI),which covers AI basics, agents, environment, alpha-beta pruning, problem-solving by searching, branch and bound, and more.
Another topic in the DA paper is 'Machine Learning', which covers introduction, regression, classification, clustering, supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and more.
'Deep Learning' is the next topic in the DA paper, which includes sub-topics such as conventional neural networks, hyper-parameter tuning, emerging neural network architectures, long-short term memory, time series forecasting, regularization, auto-encoders, and more.
'Natural Language Processing' is another topic that includes an overview of natural language processing, text mining, cleaning, processing, sentence structure, text classification, an introduction to semantics, and more.
One of the most important topics under the DA subject is 'Data Structure with Python',which covers arrays, linked lists, trees, and graphs.
The next topic that comes under the DA paper is 'Design and Analysis of Algorithms, which includes sub-topics such as time and space complexity, divide and conquer, greedy technique, and dynamic programming.
The last topic is'Database Management Systems’ (DBMS), which includes SQL basics, advanced SQL, defined functions in SQL, SQL optimization and performance, and the basics of DBMS.
