DRDO Interview Preparation

DRDO is prestigious defense research organisation of India. There are many labs of DRDO with different names spread across the length and breadth of India. Getting into DRDO is the dream of almost every technocrat who aspires to work in R & D field and wants to serve the nation. Since its highly prestigious organisation, the competition to enter in it is also immense.

To clear the interview of DRDO, min 70% marks normally are required. There are certain important points which are related to the interview of DRDO:
1. It is largely technical in nature with very less emphasis on the HR part.
2. Group of scientists (6 to 12) including some professors are in the panel.
3. Scientists are of high seniority (Scientist G onward) and of director level.
4. Some technical subjects are more important than others but you should have basic knowledge of almost every subject.
5. Subjects related to Project & Internship must also be covered.
6. Project (B Tech & M Tech) and internship report must also be prepared.
7. Some questions from M Tech can also be asked.
8. It may last around 20 to 30 Minutes.
9. Time of interview is not criteria of your performance.
10. Normally you will be asked your favorite subjects.
11. Even if you don’t answer 50% questions, you may get selected depending upon how you have answered other questions.
12. Don’t bluff in interview, if you don’t know the answer don’t give it.
13. Maintain calmness and confidence.
14. Keep explanation simple and straight.
15. Tell only what is being asked.
16. He may ask you to go and explain on board.
17. You will be provided writing papers and pen.
18. They will make you feel comfortable.

How is Interview of DRDO is different from other organisations like PSU, Industries, AE etc in the following manner:
1. Scientists are not much interested in final answer but approach you follow
2. They will start with very simple questions and keep on increasing the degree of difficulty with each answer
3. They check your deep understanding rather than knowledge of subject matter
4. They will ask you practical applications, assumptions and significance
5. They will provide you sufficient time for answering
6. They may provide you some question which you have never heard of and check the approach you take to provide answer
7. They check both your convergent and divergent thinking
8. They give you practical problem and ask you to find the solution
9. You will be asked to think from different perspective
10. Normally questions will be asked which involve knowledge of different subjects for the answer
11. Physics will be involved as basics of engineering is science only
12. They will provide you hint as you approach the problem
13. From their expressions, you cant tell whether you are right or not
14. They will decide about your performance once you leave the room
15. They are very supportive in the interview
