NIC Written Exam Preparation

The recruitment notification has been released by an organization for the posts of Scientist-‘B’ (Group ‘A’), Scientific Officer/Engineer – SB (Group-B), and Scientific/Technical Assistant - ‘A’ (Group-B). The vacancies will be filled on a direct recruitment basis. The level and pay scale for each post are mentioned in the notification.

The selection process for the Scientist ‘B’ and Scientific Officer/Engineer – SB posts will be through a written examination and interview. Only the written examination will be conducted for the Scientific/Technical Assistant - ‘A’ post. The written examination will be in online mode and the question paper will consist of 120 multiple-choice questions to be answered in a maximum time of 3 hours. The syllabus for the examination is attached as Annexure A in the notification.
 
 
The medium of the written examination shall be in English only. The question paper will consist of 65% questions from Technical Area and 35% questions from Generic Area. Every question will carry one mark and there will be a negative marking of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer. The minimum percentage to qualify for the written examination is 50% for General/EWS, 40% for OBC, and 30% for the SC/ST/PWD categories. The cutoff marks specified would be applicable for the overall marks as well as for each section separately.
